WWE OffSeason Plans this year I predict will be a Holding Pattern to Summerslam when several notable WWE Superstars are set to return in time for the big summer event.
Summerslam will be the next event that WWE will put some sub-par creative focus on some feuds and storylines. But that focus and effort is 4 months away.
In the meantime, Payback (May 1st) looks to feature some experimental matchups posing some of the recently debuted Superstars in championship matches. Then, Extreme Rules (May 8th) and Money in the Bank (June 19th) will keep the WWE Universe distracted by the smoke and mirrors of gimmicks and stipulation-laden matches.
There is nothing in the current WWE machine that compels them to make any wholesale changes to the RAW and Smackdown programs. For now, Roman Reigns taking on the likes of AJ Styles will satisfy the IWC added with some fresh matchups like Enzo and Cass vs the Dudley Boyz along a couple of resurrected NXT feuds (Charlotte vs. Natalya and Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens).
The midcard titles are in the air without any new feuds in play. Kalisto, The Miz and The New Days all are left without any contenders. Yes, the Miz has been working a program currently with Zack Ryder but I believe that feud will be short-lived.
Once Summerslam nears , the WWE’s more prominent Superstars like John Cena, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins will take their places back on the card and until then WWE will remain status quo to the IWC’s disappointment. -KOP
