WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins has torn his right ACL, MCL and medial meniscus, and will not be able to defend the title against Roman Reigns at Survivor Series. A tournament to determine a new champion will instead take place at the event.
As first reported on Twitter by ESPN, Rollins suffered the injury last night at a WWE Live Event in Dublin, Ireland, and is expected to miss six to nine months of action.-WWE.com-November 5th, 2015
First of all, I feel really bad for Seth Rollins. For what it’s worth, I believe he has earned his spot as an unquestionable WWE perennial main event superstar, but the road he had to travel has finally taken its toll.
Seth Rollins is now at the same level of WWE superstar that CM Punk, Daniel Bryan, Chris Benoit, Chris Jericho, Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio had before him. From his nine-month run holding the Money in the Bank briefcase to his seven-month run as World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins will be sorely missed in the ring.
Now, thanks to everything that this corporate wrestling company had asked of Seth Rollins was painstakingly grueling and unnecessary. So, Brock Lesnar and John Cena are Vince’s prototype of a champion, and I feel when someone like Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, or some other mid-sized wrestler holds their belt, they are convinced that must push harder and do even more that what’s asked of them.
Months ago, I spoke on the podcast questioning why Seth Rollins was wrestling up to 3 full length TV matches and all of the house shows without a break. Did it really make a difference that the World Heavyweight Champion had to wrestle on every Raw and Smackdown? Well, WWE what do you say now?!
Stay tuned to the blog when I will put up another post about the state of WWE World Title and its eminent playing out at Survivor Series. -KOP
