Brock Lesnar has been positioned to a lower priority following the go-home-to Royal-Rumble edition of Monday Night Raw, and its a huge mistake.
Brock Lesnar’s return on the second RAW of the year started as standard fare for the WWE’s biggest main event draw and the promotion’s most featured attraction next to the Undertaker. Keeping him around the world title is the only place he should be in at this point.
They are keeping him around the world title…right now…by having him booked in the Royal Rumble match, and then the three-way #1 contender’s match coming up at WWE Fastlane, but its the interaction with one of those opponents as well as the underlying story line that WWE is looking to sprout that gives me the biggest problem.
The way that he can be neutralized by Roman Reigns with a few spears and then the attacks by the Wyatt family trouble me. This is due to the fact, much like in the Undertaker’s case as well, that WWE failed to build any strong crowd-polarizing heels worthy to lace their boots realistically against Brock Lesnar or the Undertaker.
This leads me to bring up a bigger story about Wrestlemania this year. Some reports would like to suggest that Bray Wyatt and his family are slated to feud with Brock Lesnar and Kevin Owens is considered to be the opponent for the Dead Man this coming Wrestlemania. Unfortunately, WWE made two critical mistakes that I called out during the Wrestlemania Off-season that are now coming back to bite the promotion in a time where injuries have plagued the roster.
Did Kevin Owens really need to lose his feud to John Cena?
Regardless of the fact that Kevin Owens was pushed to the very top of the main event card and beat Cena to become United States Champion, there was no reason that his push had to be brought down. Owens in his mid-card state now is by far as capable of a main event heel as was Seth Rollins before he went down to injury.
Did the Brothers of Destruction have to destroy a newly -formed 4-man Wyatt Family at Survivor Series?
Vince McMahon was willing to let the Undertaker lose his Wrestlemania streak , and then start showing the Phenom show signs of weakness and age. While I could understand protecting the gimmick, what was so wrong with letting Kane take the pinfall and therefore putting over this group making their current run as unbeatable swamp thugs look even more impressive with this kind of pivotal victory.
Let me jump back to Brock Lesnar. Lesnar is being set up to be used in a ineffective Wrestlemania feud because his opponents are still beneath him, and that is no fault but that of the WWE-KOP
